Cataracts:

A Cataract is a clouding of the otherwise normal crystalline lens caused typically by the aging process, although sometimes injuries or drugs can contribute to this disorder.  In Dr. Duffey’s practice the average age patient undergoing cataract surgery is 69 years of age, although he has performed cataract surgery in patients as young as two weeks and in patients over 100 years of age.  Cataracts cause the clear lens to become cloudy or opaque inhibiting the passage of light to the back of the eye and causing a significant reduction in vision leading to the complaint of frosted to fogged vision by the patient.

Cataract Symptoms:

  • Decreased or Blurred Vision
  • Halos, Glare
  • Light Sensitivity
  • Ghosting, Double Vision
